Weekend Projects

You won't believe what you can accomplish in a weekend. All of the projects shown below can be completed, start to finish, in a single weekend.

Flowing Walkway
Build a flowing walkway with the wide variety of CCI Slab or Slate products in a weekend. You will need slab of choice, base rock and finishing material to complete this project.

Create a path to tranquility, with a flowing set of stepping stone flagstones. Enjoy your garden even more with a meandering pathway that can be as creative as you would like.

Step 1 - Determine placement and mark out with a shovel.

Step 2 - Excavate soil.

Step 3 - Install base rock, level and compact.

Step 4 - Install chosen walkway material, level.

Step 5 - Backfill walkway area with decorative rock or mulch.

Paver Patio
Build a paver patio with CCI’s Century Paver Collection of products in a weekend. You will need the selected paver, base rock, sand, Gator Edging and CCI Polymeric Sand to complete this project.

Creating that backyard patio can be an enjoyable weekend project. With some planning, you can expand your living space into the backyard, and enjoy the benefits of the outdoors in your private space.

Step 1 - Excavate foundation area.

Step 2 - Fill with base rock and rake smooth.

Step 3 - Compact with plate compactor.

Step 4 - Install layer of sand, screed and level.

Step 5 - Place Gator Edge around perimeter as needed.

Step 6 - Install pavers in desired pattern.

Step 7 -Pour CCI Polymeric Sand on top of pavers, sweep and tamp sand into joints of pavers.

Landscape Edging
Create an edging to your landscape with the CCI 4in1 Edger in a weekend. You will need the CCI Edger block and Gator Edging to complete this project.

Whether finishing off a just completed flower bed, or adding zip to an existing one. Adding an edging block completes the project, and adds that finished look to your planting beds or any area of your yard.

Step 1 - Excavate area the length of desired edging site.

Step 2 - Place edging product selected into edging site.

Step 3 - Align and level with rubber mallet.

Step 4 - Place Gator Edge against edging product to maintain alignment of Edging Material for years to come.

Step 5 - Backfill and landscape as needed.

Below Ground Pond/Water Feature

Build a Below Ground Pond with the AB Courtyard Collection from Allan Block in a weekend. You will need the AB York blocks and Wall Caps to complete this project. See How-to Sheet #310.

Step 1 - Determine location and mark out with a shovel.

Step 2 - Remove sod or top soil and dig hole.

Step 3 - Prepare base and leveling pad.

Step 4 - Install temporary course of blocks for placement.

Step 5 - Remove blocks and install flexible pond liner.

Step 6 - Reinstall blocks.

Step 7 - Backfill blocks and liner.

Step 8 - Install top course of blocks and wall caps.

Step 9 - Add decorative rock, fountain and water. Enjoy!

Step 1 - Determine location and mark out with a shovel.

Step 2 - Run electrical wiring per code.

Step 3 - Prepare foundation.

Step 4 - Build 1st course of post, level and adjust.

Step 5 - Install additional courses to desired height.

Step 6 - Modify and install Post Caps to allow for wiring.

Step 7 - Run electrical wiring according to local building code.

Raised Planter
Build a Raised Planter or flower bed with the AB Garden Collection from Allan Block in a weekend. You will need the AB Jumbo blocks and cap to complete this project.

Step 7 - Install additional courses, leveling, backfilling and compacting as each course is installed.

Step 8 - On last course, backfill with black dirt.

Step 9 - Install caps. Ready for planting.

Small Retaining Wall
Build a retaining wall with the Garden Collection from Allan Block in a weekend. You will need the AB Jumbo and caps to s this project.

Adding a small retaining wall can add space to your landscape, create a level area for a raised patio, or fix a sloping front yard.

Step 1 - Determine location and mark out with a shovel.
